ABSTRACT:
A 7 page paper assessing the state of outsourcing of work such as software maintenance and other knowledge-based, non-manufacturing jobs. The purpose here is to present a research process outline suitable for conducting a quantitative study of the effects of outsourcing. Reliability and validity are paramount requirements for such research. This type of investigation can be of direct benefit to career-changers, industry recruiters and government policy makers, but only if it is based on sound methods and yields valid, unbiased results.
